WE DID IT! - we drove 3750km for London to Greece using nothing but waste vegetable oil scavenged from restaurants along the route. We filled the tanks from chip fryers, schnitzel shops and transport cafes all the way down through Europe. The challenge was to "Fat-Find" our way from the UK to the Mediterranean without using fossil fuels, Some teams were running on pure grease, while others brewed up biodiesel from they fat they collected on the way. The 12 day trip started on August 16th 2008 and arrived in Athens for the awards ceremony hosted by the British Ambassador. Thanks also to Simon, the British Ambassador in Athens for giving us such a fantastic finale, and above all thanks to all the teams who put their heart and soul into fatfinding, and have set the standard very high for future events. |
